Behind the Masks - A Profile of U.S. Based Academic Public Health Program Leadership: Frontlines of an Increasingly Global Challenge
Public health officials around the world are working to respond to the outbreak of the coronavirus. As deaths from the virus are mounting, officials involved are calling upon the knowledge they acquired while in academic public health programs, typically at the graduate level of study. In a very real sense, those programs of study and their academic leaders will likely have a major impact in dealing with the coronavirus, much as they had with H5N1 bird flu, mad cow disease, and Ebola. But who are these leaders?
Enclosed is an examination of the academic leaders of American-based programs, schools, and colleges of public health leading the development of the next generation of practitioners, scholars, and policymakers. We hope you find this research white paper both useful and thought-provoking.
