Harris Search Associates has recruited Steve Heist as the next The Director of Network and Communications Systems at the University at Buffalo.
The Director of Network and Communications Systems leads the enterprise-wide network and telecommunication strategy of the three UB campuses and student dorms. The Director reports directly to the Vice President and CIO (VPCIO) and manages a team of professionals responsible for the ongoing planning, strategic design, engineering, development, and operation of network and telecommunication services required to deliver necessary features, future performance, security, and availability to support the teaching, research, and service activities of the University. He/she directs the activities necessary to keep the network infrastructure running seamlessly, efficiently, and effectively while ensuring compliance with established standards and policies.
Mr. Heist is a seasoned technology manager with over 25 years of enterprise IT experience including strategic planning, service management and technology consulting in the higher education and commercial verticals. He has extensive experience in project management, technology architecture, design and consulting, large-scale systems integration on complex networks, enterprise service implementations and strategic organizational initiatives. Mr. Heist holds a BA and MBA from the University at Buffalo.
