Harris Search Associates has recruited Dr. Jay Albayyari as the next Dean of the Wright State University Lake Campus.
Jay Albayyari, associate vice chancellor for research, engagement and sponsored programs at Indiana University-Purdue University Fort Wayne, has been named new dean of Wright State University’s Lake Campus.
Albayyari’s appointment will be effective July 1, 2015, and he will begin as dean elect on April 1, 2015, to facilitate his transition.
Albayyari will replace Dean Bonnie Mathies, who is retiring after several years of service to Wright State. As the new dean, Albayyari will serve as the Lake Campus’ chief academic officer and support its development and transformation.
“ Dr. Albayyari will work with the faculty to guide the growing engineering, agriculture, business and other programs as well as the transition to a more residential campus,” Provost Narayanan said. “And he will work to strengthen the collaborative spirit among faculty, staff, students, the community and other constituencies to make the Lake Campus a shining example of what can be done when we all work together.”
Prior to serving as associate vice chancellor for research, engagement and sponsored programs at Indiana University-Purdue University Fort Wayne (IPFW), Albayyari was a department chair and associate dean in the College of Engineering, Technology and Computer Science.
Albayyari obtained his bachelor’s, master’s and Ph.D. in mechanical engineering from the University of Cincinnati. He served on the faculty at Northern Kentucky University and Eastern Michigan University before arriving at IPFW in 2006.
