Joyce Ingram

Senior Advisory Consultant

Joyce A. Ingram serves as Senior Advisory Consultant to Harris Search Associates providing insight, national relationships, and vetting of candidates on behalf of client institution committees and our firm.

Joyce is a seasoned Human Resources (HR) executive with over 38 years of experience in higher education, commercialization, and non-profit organizations. Prior to joining our firm, Joyce served as the Chief of Staff for Finance and Administration/Associate Vice President, Chief Human Resources and Diversity Officer at Florida A&M University (FAMU). At FAMU she was responsible for leading the Human Resources Team, ensuring the delivery of HR services, systems, and tools to faculty, staff, and students.

Ms. Ingram also served as a strategic partner to the University President, the senior leadership team, and the University community leading the University's Diversity and Inclusion initiative. The primary goal was to recognize, engage, leverage, and respect the collective mixture of individual differences and similarities of all key stakeholders to ensure student success, operational performance, and an inclusive culture.

Prior to joining FAMU, Ms. Ingram served as the Assistant Vice President and Chief Human Resources Officer at Florida State University. In this role, she was responsible for the development, administration, and leadership of the Human Resources organization. She was also responsible for the development and implementation of the University's first-ever university-wide Diversity and Inclusion Initiative, serving as the Chief Diversity Officer.

Ms. Ingram began her career in human resources in higher education at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, where she served in a variety of roles, including personnel officer, chief labor negotiator, and chief hearing officer for grievances. Thereafter, she pursued a successful career in the private sector, working for various Fortune 500 companies.

Prior to serving at FAMU and FSU, Ms. Ingram served as the Director of Diversity and Community Relations for Quaker Foods and Beverages (formerly The Quaker Oats Company), a business unit of PepsiCo Beverages and Foods, North America. There, she led diversity and inclusion leadership initiatives, compliance, and community relations activities. She also served as the Director of Human Resources for all five QFB's business units' marketing teams (Gatorade, US Foods, Ready- to-Eat Cereals, Convenience Foods, the Altus Food Company joint venture) and Corporate Strategy/New Ventures, as well as the role of Director of Labor Relations and New Work Systems for Quaker, North America. Ms. Ingram also worked in the office of Human Resources at Fisher Controls International, Inc., which was a subsidiary of the Monsanto Corporation, and prior to that, served as a staff member at Land of Lincoln Legal Assistance Foundation.

Ms. Ingram earned her BA in History at Livingstone College located in Salisbury, North Carolina; MA in Labor and Industrial Relations and Juris Doctor through a joint-degree program at the University of Illinois in Urbana-Champaign. She served as a founding member of the HBCU Leadership Exchange, sponsored by TIAA, past Chair of the College and Universities Human Resources Executives (CUHRE) group within the State University System of Florida, and holds membership in College and University Professional Association for HR (CUPA-HR) and the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM).
