Dr. Uma Gupta
Dr. Gupta is widely respected across the country for her expertise in the areas of Academic Information Technology and Engineering Sciences. She is the former President of the State University of New York (SUNY) at Alfred and serves as Senior Advisor to the Provost of SUNY at Buffalo.
Prior to the working for the SUNY system, she was the Dean of the College of Technology at The University of Houston where she was the Endowed Chair of the Department of Information Technology. Prior to the University of Houston, Dr. Gupta served as department Chair in Decision Sciences and Full Professor at both Creighton University and at East Carolina University .
She holds a PHD in Industrial Engineering from University of Central Florida (with a concentration on Artifical Intelligence and Expert Systems) where she was awarded best dissertation. In addition she holds an both an MBA and Masters of Science in Mathematics. She has published three books, over 40 articles and consulted to Forrester Research and CIO Magazine in the areas of Information Systems and strategic talent assessment.
She has served as the President's Council on Diversity Issues in the Workplace, Creighton University, External Technology Advisory Committee, Vice President for Academic Affairs Faculty Insight Group, to share and address issues relevant to faculty Governance, Chair, Search Committee, Department Chair in Information Systems and Technologies, Search Committee, Director of Creighton Institute, Creighton University, Member Board of Directors Houston Technology Center, Chair, MIS Curriculum Committee, East Carolina University, and is currently a member of the Personnel Committee, at East Carolina University.
